The Story of
Vernadoon
Vernadoon, by Dimitry Nalbandyan
In the heart of Tbilisi, in the year 1899, a remarkable gathering was born.
The great Armenian poet Hovhannes Tumanyan opened the upper room of his apartment to fellow artists, writers, and intellectuals. This modest attic became Vernadoon, a sanctuary for creative minds.
The Vernadoon gatherings became legendary, a crucible where ideas were forged, where poetry was born, and where the Armenian literary renaissance found its voice.
"Upper Room" in Armenian
From վեռն (vern) meaning "upper" + տուն (doon) meaning "house"
